IMMORTAL
TOUR 2000
Barcelona, Spain, Bikini Club, 6 October
Report from the days off: Things weren't looking too bright
yesterday. We got stuck outside of Spain because a 100 kilometres of
trucks were blocking the road, so we stayed in Montpellier. Some of us
decided to go into town for a few beers and others decided to stay in
the tour bus and watch a couple of videos instead (rock n roll, huh?).
We thought that if we'd get stuck and not make it to Barcelona in time,
we'd offer the service station people a free gig! Luckily the blockade
was gone the next morning and since we have got two drivers, we managed
to make it in time. Now we've parked the tour bus on the beach in
Barcelona and apparently some of the more daring members are going to
have a swim.
Yesterday was
spent mostly on the beach. If you're going to have a day off - have it
in Barcelona! Clive, Mick, Rob and a few others enjoyed the heavenly
garlic prawns and in the evening we had a nice paella dinner, arranged
by the promotor Esteban.
One of our drivers, "Chop", was
mucking around with the skatebord that our lighting engineer brought,
and ended up in casualty! We weren't sure he'd even be able to drive,
but he's OK now. Get well, Chopster!
The venue here in Barcelona is called The
Bikini Club and it's a very nice one too. Beautifully decorated with
marble and the ambience is good and the stage is high. We're all very
keen to play now after two days off.
Report from the gig:
Ah, Barcelona, we love you! As usual, the audience was absolutely
magnificent there and everything involving the gig was perfectly
arranged. We continued to do encore after encore until we weren't
allowed to play any longer when they had to close the place. The
hospitality was as marvellous as ever and after the gig we were
absolutely swamped with people asking for autographs. And believe me,
it's a real pleasure!
