IMMORTAL
TOUR 2000
Paris, France, Le Boule Noir, 14 October
Report from Paris: Yesterday we had the classic crisis; someone had unpowered the keyboards, so one of the samplers wouldn't load. Technical nightmare! We had to completely change the set and started with "Solomon" and we had to skip "Moviedrome". Luckily the gig went down an absolute storm and it was a great evening nevertheless!
A review of the gig by Cedric:
The Paris gig started at 9.00 pm local time, one hour after support band Pain Of Salvation left the stage. Clive apologized for the long wait due to "a lot of things that happened backstage" and introduced an unexpected "Solomon" as the opening song. All along the gig, he and John, who were really the two front-men for this night, have dealt a lot with technical problems as a sampler module crashed down. To be honest, apart from "Solomon", we wouldn't have noticed anything since the gig was dramatically good ! Those inconveniences forced them to change the set-list which a major part was refering to my all time personal favorite Arena album, "The Visitor". Songs off it were extraodinary great ! A lot of them had even their performing improved since the 1998 tour ("A crack in the ice" and "Double vision" in particular) and they all recieved very big cheerings. Most of us couldn't prevent from singing along the "Enemy Without" chorus ! Only 3 tracks from the latest "Immortal" album were performed. Honestly, it's my least favorite Arena record but with the live enhancing the songs got, I had to change my mind, especially regarding "The Butterfly Man".
Congratulations to the whole band. You've definitely managed to overcome disagreements and gave us a great and amazing show ! You made it ! Wish you all the best for the rest of the tour, and I hope to see you again as soon as possible. Thank you very much.
