Spain - Madrid - Caracol
Travel day: So the journey to Madrid begins. This day consisted of a lot of driving, a lot of films and a mind numbing amount of boredom. The occasional stop at a service station provided the only interest. However, at about 3 in the morning, we arrived in Biarritz. Another chance for breakfast!
It's a very hot day. Mick and Clive went in search for a hotel room that people could use for showers. As they walked into the foyer of a rather posh hotel the guy behind the desk pointed at Clive and said "Mr Clive Nolan!". He turned out to be a fan of Arena, Pendragon and other related acts. A nice coincidence. The day continued lazily with beach side bars and ocean view restaurants.
The day started with a bit of a problem. When we tried to leave Biarritz, we found the bus had no battery power. This is not the kind of vehicle that you can push start. Fortunately, Mike (lighting engineer) had a brain wave and he managed to tap into a nearby lamp post for power. This did the job and we were on our way. In the evening, it was great to be back in front of a Spanish audience. We played to more people in Madrid this time than the last and as always they were a fantastic and noisy audience.
